Re: Postgame Discussion: Cowboys vs. Eagles II

I have to be honest - Romo didnt look great last week and didnt look good at all today.  It's either another late season collapse by ROMO, or he needs to focus on Football and foget about Jessica until after football season!!!!!  Wasn't it around this time last year that all the crap about him and Carrie came out and he also stated to play worse.  I give him a lot of respect for the women he's getting, but TONY, frekin wait until the season

3 years ago on Oct 15

3 years ago on this very same day, Sam asked me to marry him on top of Shenandoah Mountain.

Luckily for him, I said yes and we've been married for 2 and 1/2 years now.  I can't believe it!!

We were discussing how our lives would've been different, if we didn't get married and ....

IMchamps2x (12:10:56 PM): i saved you from life of boredom and starvation

Happy anniversary to us and happy Monday, everyone!

p.s. Cowboys will play Pats again in Super Bowl and we will WIN next time. We'll win when it really matters! Romo for LIFE!!!

Day of Mourning

What a sad day! My manager is promoted to Controller (previously Director) of the company so we’re getting a new manager for our group. I’m very happy about his promotion but not very excited about getting a new manager.

He’s the FIRST manager I actually respect and like – all at same time! Our whole group is actually depressed and even thinking about wearing a ‘black band’ to protest this change.  We spend 1/3 of day at work and we all know how managers can make a big difference in our jobs.

I was so sad that I even skipped breakfast this morning after reading promotion email. I can only hope and pray that we’ll get another cool manager like him…

This is an article from CNN website. I can't exactly describe how I feel reading this. I read many books about this topic and even heard the interviews by victims who are still alive and currently reside in South Korea. Some of these women (grandmothers now) actually live together and still can remember every little detail about what happened to them. I mean why wouldn't they?

I can't forget about this one interview where one victim tells the reporter how she (80 some years old grandmother) exercises everyday. A surprised reporter asked her why (grandmother just looked so fragile and weak), this grandmother simply says..." I want to live long so I can tell the whole world what these people did to me and to other women. I don't anything in return; I'm old and I don't have many days to live. I just want them to apologize for taking my life away and many other women's. I just want the world to know so this doesn't happen ever again...”

Many victims didn't come back to their homes even after WWII because they were too ashamed.  Most of them didn't even want to share the story because they felt so humiliated. Some couldn’t live with shame and took their own lives.

Please pray for the victims; I can't imagine how they would feel now reading this article.

TOKYO, Japan (AP) -- Japan will not apologize again for its World War II military brothels, even if the U.S. Congress passes a resolution demanding it, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe told parliament Monday.

Abe, elaborating on his denial last week that women were forced to serve as frontline prostitutes, said none of the testimony in hearings last month by the U.S. House of Representatives offered any solid proof of abuse.

"I must say we will not apologize even if there's a resolution," Abe told lawmakers in a lengthy debate, during which he also said he stood by Japan's landmark 1993 apology on the brothels.

Historians say that up to 200,000 women -- mostly from Korea and China -- served in Japanese military brothels throughout Asia in the 1930s and '40s.

Accounts of abuse by the military -- including kidnapping of women and girls for use in the brothels -- have been backed up by witnesses, victims and even former Japanese soldiers.

But prominent Japanese scholars and politicians routinely deny direct military involvement or the use of force in rounding up the women, blaming private contractors for any abuses.

Abe last week sided with the critics, saying that there was no proof that the women were coerced into prostitution, igniting a storm of criticism and protests in South Korea and other countries where the women came from.

On Monday, he elaborated, saying there was no evidence of coercion in the strict sense -- such as kidnapping -- but he acknowledged that brokers procuring women otherwise forced the victims to work as prostitutes. Abe did not explain further.

The U.S. House is considering a nonbinding resolution that would demand a formal acknowledgment and apology from the Japanese government for the brothels.

A House committee heard testimony last month from women who described being taking captive by Japanese authorities and repeatedly raped as so-called "comfort women."

Abe suggested he did not consider such testimony conclusive evidence.

"There was no testimony based that had any proof," he told lawmakers Monday

War Against Food

Let me rephrase that, it should read – War Against Dinner.  Sam and I have been on “Herbal Life Shake Dinner” diet on and off for past few months. (key word here is, on and off) We’re free to eat whatever we want for breakfast and lunch but for dinner, we’re required to drink herbal life shake (in yummy vanilla flavor) and maybe some fruits/yogurt. Of course, we’re only humans so we did made few exceptions for special celebrations such as anniversary, birthday, company party, friends’ party, family gathering, etc.  (like I said, few exceptions :P)

Herbal life shakes actually taste pretty good (it even comes in chocolate, Cookies 'n Cream and few other flavors.) but we always get hungry afterwards.  No matter how much we ate for breakfast and lunch, we always get hungry during dinner time. It’s so hard for us to not think about food and we often talk about what we’ll eat the next day. It gives us strength to endure and hope to look forward to next day. But sometimes, we (mostly me) just give in and eat.

That’s what happened few nights ago. I had to eat so I cooked bi-bim-bop mixed with kalbi & vegetables topped with perfectly fried egg, mixed with hot chili paste and sesame oil.  While I was getting all the ingredients ready, I realized I have some left over rice from a night before so I decided to use that as well. Before I knew it, I’m sitting in front of this huge bowl of bi-bim-bop that could serve about 4 people.  Due to its enormous size, my thoughtful husband offered to help. I was bit hesitant at first but decided to give him little since I didn’t want to waste any food. I was planning to eat only half of it so I can the rest next day.

TV drama “24” was about to start so I decided to eat in a living room, watching my #1 TV show. Show started with Day 6, 3p.m. and by it hit 3:20 p.m., I emptied my enormous bowl. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Did I really eat all of that and if I did, how come I’m not full?  What’s wrong me? What did I eat so much? Then I hear something very revolutionary that touched my heart.

“You’re a piggy, honey!”

A friend says a first step to any addiction recovery is acceptance, so here it is.

“My name is Sarah, and I'm addicted to large portions of food."

I’m starting an anonymous support group for people like me who has no self- control over food portioning. If you’re interested, please email me through my xanga site. All the information will be kept confidential and we can go through this together. Let’s help each other.
